GemSol Reiki came about following a life changing year in 2008. The biggest loss I had ever encountered, a barmy new rescue horse, completely grounded family (human and animal), coupled with nearly 20 years searching for that ‘missing factor’ took me on a steep learning curve over the next 12 months. After accepting I couldn’t keep ignoring ‘signs’, ’fate’ or whatever you may call it, my life changed forever & the journey began.

Our philosophy is that everyone, horses, animals and humans alike have the right to a peaceful existence and a level of listening and understanding that enables us to communicate and transform in harmony whilst ever moving forward in a non-threatening, respectful and trusting way.

Throughout my life, I have found horses and animals act as a vehicle for personal adventure into the realms of mind, body and spirit. They are our travel guides for both the internal and external journey in a healing and transformation collaboration. You can have all the concepts, values, spiritual and/or religious beliefs you like in your life, but if you live life without integrity, it is a life half lived. Horses live in the moment, without grudges or egos and have the ability to live their lives with the consistency of their values, actions, principles, expectations and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the ‘honesty and truthfulness of one’s actions’ – horses show us this. The word integrity stems from the Latin adjective ‘integer’ which translates to ‘whole, complete’. In this context, integrity is the inner sense of ‘wholeness’ which derives from qualities such as honesty and consistency of character. We can claim to have integrity when we live according to the values, beliefs and principles we claim to hold.

GemSolReiki is named after my two beloved life-long equine companions, Gemma and Solo and it is with much love, respect and gratitude for all the time, support, listening, comfort and above all learning they both facilitated within and for me. Without them, my own journey into facing my feelings of vulnerability, uncertainty, helplessness, dispair and enforced change would not have lead me to the transformation into living my life based in hope, peace and harmony. For my special guardians I am eternally grateful.

My beautiful ladies Gemma and Solo are sadly no longer physically with me, but I know and feel their presence every moment of every day still with me guiding and helping me along life’s tricky paths. Without them, I wouldn’t be following the next phase in my journey in healing and horses, they enabled me to rescue 3 more equines each with their own stories and healing needs but also healing and transforming me even more.
