Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many.Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.
Learning how to be comfortable in our own skin and with ourselves is probably the most challenging task in life. Throughout my life I have come to realise the only way to accomplish this is to live life not analyse it. It sounds so simple! Throughout my life and career I have learnt a wide range of theoretical perspectives, tools and professional persona to understand what and how ‘we tick’. It has been a life long journey of realising that what makes us ‘tick’ is balancing our instincts and intuition and this combination enables us to navigate our way through life. By knowing ourselves, we unlock the the direct access to ‘source/universe/god/goddess’, whatever religion or spirituality connects with you.
By identifying our own process of problem solving and learning to be creative and inventive, by facing our dilemmas and challenges we are able to stretch our minds, working within the unfolding process we learn to reach for the ‘what if’s’ rather than the ‘what if not’s’. The horse is a unique patient and peaceful teacher of this approach.
When we unlock our innate resources we connect with nature and all the mysteries and energy forces which reminds ourselves we are part of a bigger picture. By connecting with the harmony and way of the horse, we are able to regain our own peace and intuition.
I originally trained in Reiki Healing and through my own journey over the past years have developed a synergy of energy healing with coaching. This collaboration of ancient traditions and modern techniques and tools enables the individual to balance and harmonise the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual lives whilst using transformational tools that facilitate change that is both immediate and constant. Walking between the two worlds of corporate nhs business and energy healing and growth is not without challenges! By using the healing and transformational techniques developed over the years has equipped me with the grounding and tools to do this.
Throughout my life, the only constant has been horses. Even when I lost my nerve for riding, just being around them always helped me in so many ways. Not just the physical activity or being outside in nature, but the very being of these beautiful, powerful and peaceful animals never fails to heal my soul.
It has been a remarkable journey to get here – I will always be thankful and feel priviledged to share the amazing gifts they bring. You never get an ego with horses, they live in the moment so it literally is what you see is what you get – a rarety in the world today some might say. They allow us to ride them even though they are so physically powerful to stop us if they so wish. They rely on true and honest leadership within each and every relationship in their lives and their survival depends upon honest communication and adding value to every member of the herd. Such community spirit and rules have we lost?
Although at times I have been in the depths of dispair and felt like I was grapling in the dark, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have learnt to problems solve, ask more of myself, be a kinder more honest human being all for the love of the horses in my life. My academic and professional achievements including my masters degree didn’t teach me in 18 years what Jasper did in 3 weeks about myself, the kind of leader I am or want to be and how you can put on an amazing show for the world but a 12oo pound animal can see right through to your core and know in an instant how utterly at war or peace with yourself you really are.
The amazing journey for me is that each horse has helped me to heal and transform myself into a whole person who strives to live life to the fullest.
The first part of a session includes spending time and ‘just being’ with one of the horses (one to one and at liberty eg not riding), the second part is discussing thoughts, feelings, emotions, blockages etc with me and looking at how we can move the issue forward using a variety of tools and approaches. This may or may not include working with the horse again as a ‘mirror’ to life situations or scenarios both in your working and home lives eg:
- problem solving
- dealing with conflict and adversity
- confidence and self esteem issues
- mental health issues
- leadership issues
- trust issues
The sessions last between 1 – 2 hours and are mainly outside so wrapping up warm in winter is advisable! Our facilities are ‘au natural’ so if you’re looking to get back to nature rather than sitting in a ‘therapy room’ why not give it a go?
We all look forward to meeting you and walking with you on your journey!
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” (Buddha)
